Modifications to Training Team and Homeschool Programs
We have some great news! Over the weekend, the Government of Alberta provided some more details that help to clarify the announcements that they made last Thursday. Specifically, they have provided additional guidance on the types of activities that are still able to operate, which allows us to continue our ninja training in a modified format.
With this modified format, there are some new rules that we’ll be strictly adhering to, so please read this update carefully and go over it with your little ninjas to ensure they understand it all too. At the end of the day, we want to continue trying to provide an awesome, fun environment for you all to become better ninjas, but we also need to take the health and safety of you, our customers, and our staff, seriously. With that in mind, please know that the modified training session details described below are necessary for us to not only adhere to the Government’s orders, but to ensure that we as a company feel comfortable that we’re able to continue providing a safe environment for all.
Here’s how the new modified training sessions for training teams and homeschool will work:
Training team and homeschool classes will now operate instead as a supervised open gym session.
The gym is split into 3 separate open gym zones. At the start of each training session, you will be placed into 1 of the 3 zones and will spend one third of the session time in each zone before rotating around to the next one. Coaches will announce when the rotation takes place and all athletes will keep their water bottles with them throughout the zones.
Athletes should explore and practice the obstacles in their zone at a low-intensity pace. If the athlete’s open gym session is becoming more of a high-intensity cardiovascular exercise, coaches will ask the athlete to take a pause for a couple of minutes to allow their heart-rate to decrease back down to a low-intensity level.
A coach will be assigned to each of the 3 zones in order to answer questions and provide guidance if athletes are unsure of what they can do, however, the coach will not be providing specific instruction for their group; This will allow the coach to instead focus on ensuring all athletes in their zone are adhering to the required social distancing protocols.
Social distancing of at least 6ft must be observed at all times and the coach in each zone will be ensuring that this is followed. The first time an athlete is seen not social distancing, the coach will give them a verbal warning and reminder on the importance of this rule. The second time it happens in the same session, the athlete will need to sit out for the remainder of the time in that zone. If it happens a third time in the same session, we will need to call the athlete’s parents and ask them to come and pick up their child from the session early. If this happens, the athlete will be able to rejoin us at the next session, however repeated social distancing infractions over several sessions will unfortunately result in further action, including a potential temporary suspension from the program. We will be in close communication with the parent and athlete ahead of time if we feel we are nearing this outcome.
All existing COVID safety protocols will remain in place (temperature scan and hand-washing upon entry, mandatory mask usage at all times in the facility, etc.)
Additionally, during this temporary format change, athletes will be able to continue their conditioning at home by following any of our existing online training videos.
Thank you once again for your understanding of the situation we are all in together. While you may hear of other fitness facilities implementing things differently, we here at Fitset Ninja are confident that these temporary changes to the way our training team sessions will operate are in the best interests of everyone’s health and safety.
We’re excited to take on this new obstacle and hope to continue to see you here over the coming weeks!
